What Is a Tooth Extraction?

A tooth extraction is a dental procedure in which a tooth is carefully removed from its socket in the jawbone. While our first priority is always to save your natural teeth, extraction becomes necessary when a tooth is too damaged, decayed, or problematic to restore - and leaving it in place would compromise your overall oral health.

Using the latest techniques and instruments, our dental surgeons perform both simple and surgical extractions with a focus on minimising discomfort and maximising recovery speed.

What Is Our Tooth Extraction Procedure?

1. Oral Examination & X-Ray

Your dentist performs a comprehensive assessment of the affected tooth and surrounding bone structure. X-rays help us understand the tooth's root position and plan the safest removal approach.

2. Anaesthesia

A local anaesthetic is applied to fully numb the area before we begin. You may feel pressure, but you should not feel pain. We take time to ensure you're completely comfortable before proceeding.

3. Extraction

For simple extractions, the tooth is gently loosened and removed. For surgical extractions, where a tooth is impacted or broken below the gumline - a small incision may be required for safe removal.

4. Wound Care & Aftercare Instructions

Once the tooth is removed, the socket is cleaned and, where needed, sutured. We provide detailed aftercare guidance to support healing and prevent complications like dry socket.

Tooth Extraction Benefits
